Back to the basics...

So for the past couple of months I have been shooting with a medium format holga and diana.  I wanted to get back in touch with the things I used to love the most; shooting film and being back in the dark room.  I love the holga because it limits you in almost every aspect of photography.
Holga: the camera
One non-removable lens
One shutter speed
One f-stop

After I complete this body of work which may be months from now once I soon expand to color I am planning on making a book which I will have open to the public and will announce when finished.

The following are a few images that I have produced so far:

Intro to Digital Photography with Dee Peppe

So this week I am TA'ing a class with the wonderful Dee Peppe.  Although it is an Intro to Digital class it's interesting how much you can learn the second time around!  By a fabulous coincidence Dee also went to SCAD except to get her MFA.  Being able to create photographs again has been wonderful, and doing something I love without having an assignment.  I just need to keep doing this!

Photographing Residential Architecture with Brian Vanden Brink!

So this week I am taking a class at the Maine Media Workshops.  So far it has been amazing.  I am learning so much which is always awesome.  Along with learning about architecture and seeing light within it we have been to some beautiful locations!

Fred Bess Cider Press!

When I was in high school I worked at a farm stand that pressed their own cider.  It was probably one of the most exciting things about working there.  I was always curious about the process but never asked to watch.  So when this opportunity came up I was wicked excited!
Yesterday I spent a few hours in Woldoboro, Maine at the Bess house pressing cider.  It was nice to have a good portion of Maine Media there as well.  So with this new adventure, if you will, I decided to explore with the Olympus EP-2, soooo much fun! So here are a few images from the day!

Tiltshift...

I have been on a roll this week with being creative.  It has been way too long since I have been able to let go and just create! A friend showed me a tutorial on create the tilt-shift look and creating miniature scenes, so here we go!

Lensbaby!!

I've done it! I have made my own lensbaby!! I didn't want to spend a lot of money so I researched it and made my own! I used a 75mm enlarger lens and also a 50mm lens.
The images below used the 50mm lens which I liked and it gave you this super macro feel but the 75mm enlarger lens feels like I will get more out of it and a better range to shoot.
I thought I was pretty successful and I will definitely be having a lot of fun with this!

Maine: The Way Life Should Be...

I have been up in Rockport, Maine for the past 2 months now and I am having a blast! I have met so many great people along with great photographers.  I have learned a lot while being here and I only have 1 month left.
The most upsetting part of this job is that I don't have as much time to shoot as I wish I did, however here is an image shot from my apartment one night... the mixture of the intense sunset and the fog rolling in from the right was really cool!
